General
Scope
This specification covers a surface nonmetallic raceway system used for data, voice, video, other low-voltage cabling and electrical wiring. The nonmetallic raceway system shall consist of raceway, appropriate fitting and accessories to complete installation per drawings.
Classification and Use
Surface nonmetallic raceway is to be utilized in dry interiors only as covered in Article 352 part B of the National Electrical Code, as adopted by the National Fire Protection Association and as approved by the American National Standards Institute. The HellermannTyton TSRP - Powered Raceway is listed by Underwriter’s Laboratories UL-5A under File Numbers E192902 and E211305 for U.S. and Canadian use.
Submittals
>
Hop Drawings
For prewired installations, submit drawings for approval showing the complete layout of all products that make up the complete system for each floor prior to installation with raceway lengths, device type (power and/or data), locations and circuits identified.
>
As Built Drawings
If variations from approved shop drawings occur during the installation of the system, final, as built drawings, shall be submitted for each floor that has been altered.

Product
Manufacturers
The surface nonmetallic raceway system specified herein for electrical wiring or data, voice, video and other low-voltage wiring, shall be TSR or TSRP Raceway manufactured by HellermannTyton Corporation. Other manufacturer’s systems may be considered equal if, in the opinion, and the
written approval of the engineer, they meet all the performance standard specified herein.
Materials
The surface nonmetallic raceway system shall be UL Listed and exhibit nonflammable, selfextinguishing characteristics, tested to comparable specifications of UL94V-O. The raceway shall be available in 6’ and 8’ lengths. Material and work specified herein shall comply with the applicable requirements of:
> ANSI/TIA/EIA – 568-B Telecommunications Cabling Standard.
> ANSI/TIA/EIA – 569-A
Raceway
The raceway shall be a one-piece, adhesive backed latching design to aesthetically organize and route either power (TSRP) or communications cables (TSR/TSRP). Completely tamper resistant, cover’s self-locking, hidden positive latch permits quick reentry as well as providing a secure installation of premise wire or power cables. The flexible hinge allows the raceway to endure numerous openings without creating discoloration or stress cracking. The rubber-based foam tape adhesive with high ultimate bond strength conforms to any surface.
> TSR – LOW VOLTAGE SURFACE RACEWAY
This raceway shall be used for communication wires and other low voltage wiring. Available in 3 different sizes: TSR1- 3/4”(W) x 1/2”(H), TSR2 - 1-1/4”(W) x 3/4”(H) and TSR3 - 1-3/4”(W) x 1”(H). All sizes available in 3 colors: Ivory, Office White and White.
> TSRP – POWER SURFACE RACEWAY
This raceway shall be used for power or communication wiring. Available in 3 different sizes: TSRP1- 3/4”(W) x 1/2”(H), TSRP2 - 1-1/4”(W) x 3/4”(H) and TSRP3 - 1-3/4”(W) x 1”(H). All sizes available in 3 colors: Ivory, Office White and White. TSRP is UL Listed for power up to 600 Volts, meeting UL5A and CSA 22.2 No. 62-93 Standards.
Fittings
A full compliment of fittings must be available including, but not limited to: elbows, internal and external corners, tees, reducers, ceiling drops, splice covers and end caps. The fittings shall provide a means for connecting to the raceway and shall be capable of maintaining a 1” minimum bend radius. Fitting covers shall overlap the raceway to hide uneven cuts. The fittings are to be manufactured from flame resistant UL94V-O plastic in
colors that match the raceway: ivory, office white and white.
Accessories
Junction Boxes shall be available for data, communication, or other low-voltage outlets in-line. All junction boxes shall accept and NEMA standard 70mm faceplate. Available in varying depths, they are equipped with concentric knockouts on all four sides for every TSR size. The junction boxes are to be manufactured from flame resistant UL94V-O plastic in colors that match the raceway: ivory, office white and white.

Execution
Installation
Prior to and during installation, refer to the system layout drawing or installation instructions containing all elements of the system. Work shall include furnishing all raceway, appropriate fittings and junction boxes to install a nonmetallic surface raceway system as indicated on the electrical and/or communication drawings and in the specification. Installer shall comply with detailed manufacturer’s instruction sheets, which accompany the system.

Wire Fill Chart - TSR and TSRP Surface Raceway Systems

Formula used to calculate communications wire fill capacity - Numbers of wires = duct / {1/4 x 3.14 x (wire o.d.)2} x 0.4 or 0.6. Per ANSI/TIA/EIA-569-A-:
SPEC = 40% fill which is recommended for planning perimeter pathways
MAX (for data) = 60% fill which is allowed to accommodate unplanned additions after initial installation
MAX (for power) = Maximum number determined by UL temperature testing
Note: It is recommended to place electrical cables loosely in raceway
